DAY 1 of the 30 DAYS OF HEALTHY HABITS:
When we think about improving our health we usually think of, "What do I need to eliminate?" Let's change our mindset and say instead, "What can I add to my daily habits to get to a place of improved health?"
Hydrate! I cannot stress enough the importance of drinking adequate water DAILY! Drink plenty of purified water every day. Our bodies are made up of about 60% to 70% water, so it makes sense to drink lots of water to stay healthy.
The general advice is that we should drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
Look at how much water you are drinking now. My suggestion is that you increase that by a glass a day until you have reached the minimum of 8 glasses a day. If you are physically active, you may need to increase that.
Water hydrates the organs so that they can function optimally, it helps flush toxins out of the body, and it keeps your skin supple.
Healthy Habit: Carry a water bottle with you everywhere. You can do it! It will be a reminder to stay hydrated throughout the day. If you are struggling to make this work, set a reminder on your phone to 'beep' every hour so that you remember to drink up!
