Day 11 of the 30 Days of Healthy Habits: Get Adequate Sleep
We often overlook sleep as an important factor in our health and well-being. We all need the restorative benefits of sleep. Sleep helps us repair, renew and feel energized. It relaxes our body and rests our mind so we can perform better the next day. Sleep also improves our mood and mental health. It strengthens our immune system making us less prone to catching colds and the flu. And sleep also helps us manage our weight.
Ideally, we should be getting seven to eight hours of sleep a night. Your body needs that time to regenerate both physically and mentally. With adequate rest, you will be better prepared to meet the day’s challenges. Pushing yourself too hard on too little sleep will eventually wear you out, leaving you vulnerable to many stress-related health problems.
Keep a consistent bedtime. Getting to bed at a regular time most nights of the week will increase your chances of falling asleep and staying asleep. Your body will be programmed to start winding down at a certain time.
Healthy Habit: Practice getting to bed at the same time every night.
Let's all remember to...
EAT WELL - STAY ACTIVE - LIVE HAPPY and enjoy a HEALTHY BODY FOR LIFE!
