Day 14 of the 30 Days of Healthy Habits: Drink Lemon Water
We live in a day and age where the food we eat, the air we breathe, and our environment are not always conducive to good health. We can always minimize the damage by detoxifying.
Detoxification is a way of cleansing your body from unhealthy and harmful foods and drinks, medications, environmental pollutants and other irritants. You engage your body’s natural ability to process and excrete toxic waste. During this process, you free your body of accumulated toxins and thereby disease.
An easy and healthy way to detoxify on a regular basis, is by drinking lemon water first thing in the morning. This serves to stimulate the liver’s purification process.
First thing in the morning, add the juice of one-quarter to one-half a lemon to a glass of warm water. Its bitterness helps encourage a bowel movement. It is also a natural diuretic that increases the flow of urine to help flush out toxins.
*Remember to rinse your mouth after drinking lemon water, to protect your tooth enamel.
Healthy Habit: Drink a glass of warm water with fresh lemon juice every morning.
