These tiny seeds pack a BIG nutritional punch. Some even call chia seeds a superfood. It's no wonder; they are loaded with omega 3 fatty acids, protein, fibre and calcium. Who knew a tiny seed could contain so much nutrition! Legend has it that the Aztecs and Mayans were well aware of the power of chia. They considered it an energy food.
Chia seeds can be eaten raw, soaked, cooked or ground to a powder. They are very versatile. In fact, they can also serve as an egg substitute in recipes. To replace one large egg, use 1 tbsp of ground chia seeds and 3 tbsp of water.
Here's a tasty way you can incorporate more nutrition into your day with chia. When soaked, chia seeds take on a pudding-like consistency. This delicious mango chia pudding will become a family favourite for sure!
